OWB = Outside the Waistband. These holsters attach to a belt on the outside of your pants/shorts and are typically for open carry or concealed carry with a jacket or other clothing covering the holster.

IWB = Inside the Waistband. These holsters go inside the pants/shorts and generally attached with a clip to a belt. IWB holsters are used for concealed carry.

AIWB = Appendix Inside the Waistband. Like IWB holsters, they sit inside the waistband. The difference is an AIWB holster is designed to be placed at the front of your body, around the appendix and groin area. The holster is shaped in a way to help with concealability.
